Annual cornhole tournament returns this September

– The 5th Annual “Showdown” Charity Cornhole Tournament returns this year on Friday & Saturday, Sept. 17 & 18, 2021. The Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis of Atascadero are bringing back 2 days of fun with a small, 2-person team tournament on Friday with kick off at noon at the Ravine Waterpark in Paso Robles. On Saturday, the main 2-person team tournament, will be at Sunken Gardens in Atascadero with registration starting at 8 am. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club and Boy Scout Troop 51.

Kick off to the Cornhole games begins on Friday at noon with check in at 11 a.m. On Saturday, plan for a whole day of games, as there is a 9-game minimum for the tournament starting at 9:30 a.m.

Here are the details:

Friday, Sept. 17 – The Central Coast Challenge: North County High School Rivals are welcomed to this tournament along with any other rivals.Check in at 11 a.m. for the 8-team Round Robin Toss from noon until 2 p.m., break 2-3 p.m. and A & B Bracket Finals 3-5 p.m. Fun prizes will be awarded for 1st-5th place winners. Bring money to purchase food, no outside alcohol is allowed. The location is at the Miniature Golf at the Ravine Waterpark and admission is not necessary. Cost is $60 for 2-person team entry fee donation (40 team maximum).

Saturday, Sept. 18 – The Showdown Main Tournament in Sunken Gardens: Check-in is at 8 a.m. with the 8-Team Round Robin Toss at 9:30 am. The tournament will break for lunch from 12-1:30 p.m. Enjoy music from the Deja-Vu Band from 12 – 2 p.m. Finals will start up at 1:30 p.m. and go until 5:30 p.m. Up to $3,000 in Cash Prizes for 1st through 8th place. Early Bird registration $80 for 2-person team entry fee donation, early bird offer expires Aug. 17. After this date, it goes up to $100 per 2-person team donation. Sign up early to guarantee a spot.

In addition to the main tournament, there will be a $50 Prize for the best team costume and a Jenga Challenge! Cash prizes apply to adult teams only (ages 12 & over) and can total up to $3,000 with a 128-team sell out. Trophies will be given for 1st through 3rd place. There will also be a “Most Points” with a $10 buy in and a $100 cash prize for 1st place. Coffee and pastries will be available to start the day, as well as food and drinks for lunch available for purchase from Kiwanis of Atascadero.

The event is free to attend as a spectator.
