After over just a year in business, local startup Harvestly has directed over $200,000 back into the local economy.
Harvestly was founded in May 2020 by California Polytechnic State University students Walter Lafky, Lars Schilderink and Perrie Lundstrom to ease the sale of agricultural products to local customers via technology and its virtual hyperlocal marketplace. The company delivers local farm-fresh produce, prepared meals, organics, wine and various other goods at a flate rate of $5 to anywhere in San Luis Obispo County.
Over 150 local vendors offer their goods on the virtual marketplace and they receive 75% of the product price listed.
No minimum purchase or subscriptions are required to order from the marketplace, but there is an option to subscribe and save to products on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. Customers can also can also shop by recipes created by vendors, company team members and local chefs.
The company is now offering two delivery days a week: order by Sunday night for Tuesday delivery or by Wednesday night for Friday delivery.
Harvestly plans to eventually expand to Santa Barbara County and interested parties may signup to the waitlist for a 10% discount off their first order when the expansion happens.
