City recreation division reintroduces teen center group fitness hour
–The City of Atascadero Recreation Division is reintroducing the teen center group fitness hour, available for all boys and girls in 6th through 8th grades. The program will run from May 25 – June 17, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5 p.m., and will take place entirely outdoors at the Colony Park Community Center located on Traffic Way in Atascadero.
This activity offers a safe and fun environment for basic stretching, cardio, balance, and strength training while listening to some high-energy music. It’s a great way to get teens out of the house, away from screens, and active with friends. This four-week activity is geared for all fitness levels and will encourage teens to get up, get out and get active! Participants will be put into small groups of 10 or less with one instructor per group.
COVID-19 safety guidelines will be strictly followed for this activity. Staff will be required to wear masks and have their temperature taken prior to each class. Every teen will have their own activity station space at least 6’ apart from others and will have their own, non-shared equipment.
Register now as space is limited. The fee is $40 per teen (non-resident add $7.50) and includes a Teen Center Membership or Membership Renewal for use when the Teen Center reopens. Registration can be completed online: www.atascadero.org/teencenter.
