Chamber of Commerce to present ‘ 2020 Talk on the Block’ meetings
–The Atascadero Chamber of Commerce is putting on its second annual Talk on the Block Series. These town-hall-style meetings give city staff and councilmembers an opportunity to interact with residents of Atascadero, hear what’s on their minds and give an overview of city statistics, plans and vision, according to the chamber. The purpose of these meetings is to “connect city officials with members of the community so that they can better serve their constituents.”
Talk on the Block originated in 2019 and was met with much success, the chamber says. The casual forums were held at various locations around the city in order to make it convenient for community members to attend. The meetings begin with a presentation from the city and then opens up for residents to ask questions about any topic related to the City of Atascadero.
Along with city staff, some or all of the city councilmembers may attend to learn from the community, but no council discussion or decisions will be made at these meetings. They will be informal, information-sharing-and-gathering sessions only, for residents to learn about the city and their own community, and for city staff and councilmembers to “learn from residents about what’s on their minds.”
Neighborhood meetings will begin at 6 p.m. The first round of Talk on the Block sessions is scheduled for Feb. 12 at ABC Church.
Schedule:
- Feb. 12 – ABC Church at 6225 Atascadero Avenue
- Feb. 24 – United Methodist Church at 11605 El Camino Real
- Feb. 27 – Community Church of Atascadero at 5850 Rosario Ave
