Atascadero woman charged with embezzling nearly a million dollars from Creston company

–On July 9, 2019, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of grand theft at a construction company in Creston.
The owner of the construction company reported that his bookkeeper had embezzled more than 47,000 dollars from the company. The bookkeeper had reportedly taken a check made out to a vendor for the construction company, altered the check, and then deposited the amount into her personal bank account.
A three-month investigation uncovered more company checks which had been deposited into the bookkeeper’s personal bank account. The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Joy Noel Wilde of Atascadero.
It’s believed over the past three years, Wilde forged and deposited 63 company checks totaling 957,000 dollars into her own bank accounts.
On Oct. 2, deputies arrested Wilde for grand theft, embezzlement, forgery and attempted grand theft.
