Hundreds attend Ice Cream Zoofari at Charles Paddock
–Several hundred people turned out for the 17th Annual Ice Cream Zoofari at the Charles Paddock Zoo in Atascadero Saturday night.

The hot weather enhanced the appetite of the zoo-goers. The heat also softened gallon containers, which facilitated scooping the ice cream into cones and cups.
For $12 adults got all the Dr. Bernstein’s Ice Cream they wanted. DJ Gary Brill played animal songs and appropriate summer music.

Docent Alex Ball encouraged kids and adults to touch a collection of snake skins and turtle shells. She explained why turtles enjoy being petted by humans.
The meerkats studied those who attended the event while watching for flying predators. As people devoured gallons of ice cream, Troop 51 Boy Scouts helped empty trash. Proceeds benefit the Charles Paddock Zoo in Atascadero.
