Funding returns for parking areas, other projects
–The new Atascadero Business Improvement District (ABID) Committee and the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce are very pleased to announce the return of funding in the Downtown Parking and Business Improvement District (the District) area, which will be utilized for new and improved parking areas, downtown wayfinding and streetscape improvements, beautification projects, events and promotions.
The district will be funded by a special annual assessment collected with business license applications and renewal fees from businesses located within the improvement area. Beginning in 2019, downtown businesses will each contribute to the fund, which will be administered by the North County Economic Foundation – an affiliate of the Atascadero Chamber. The ABID Committee will direct the expenditures of the funds for beautification and promotions within the district area, which is located generally between Morro Road on the south, Rosario Avenue on the north, Highway 101 on the west and Hospital Drive/Atascadero Creek on the east.
To assist in getting the downtown business district reinstated, the Atascadero City Council recently appropriated $8,000 of seed money from the city’s general fund for marketing, outreach and promotions within the district.
