California citizens can register to vote on election day
–Recent legislation allows California citizens to register to vote as late as Election Day.
The San Luis Obispo County Clerk Recorder’s Office in San Luis Obispo stayed open Saturday and Sunday to allow voters to register to vote in Tuesday’s election. The office opened at nine each morning and remained open until early afternoon.
Monday, citizens registered to vote during business hours at the County Government Center and the North County Service Center. Both offices are open today and will accomodate people who want to register to vote in Tuesday’s election. The North County Service Center is open from 7:30-4:30. It’s located on the second floor of the Atascadero Library.
San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder Tommy Gong says so far voting has been strong for the county. He reminds voters headed to polling places to be prepared. Those with Vote-by-Mail ballots must turn those in at a polling place by the time the polls close Tuesday.
