Atascadero hosting open house for traffic study
–The City of Atascadero will be conducting an informal open house for the El Camino Real Downtown Traffic Calming Study and Corridor Plan, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Atascadero City Hall, located at 6500 Palma Avenue. The public is welcome to attend in order to view draft conceptual plans and exhibits of the alternatives being considered for El Camino Real, from Highway 41 to Rosario Avenue. Members of the public who plan to attend the open house should enter city hall from the Lewis Avenue entrance.
Alternatives and features include reducing portions of El Camino Real to one lane in each direction, enhanced crosswalks, bike lanes, angled parking, and center median “flex” spaces. Representatives from the city and its transportation and traffic consultants will be available during the open house to answer any questions.
After the open house, the city council will conduct their regular meeting beginning at 6 p.m. that evening. The traffic calming study will be discussed and council members will be provided with an overview of the draft conceptual plan as part of the regular council meeting agenda.
