Fires scorch North County at Chimney Rock and Mustang Springs

As of 10 p.m. Sunday night, the Mustang Fire is officially 100-percent contained, according to Cal Fire. As of 7 p.m. Sunday night, the Rock Fire was 65-percent contained.

Cal Fire crews and engines responded at about 3 p.m. to the scene of vegetation fire 14140 Chimney Rock Rd. named #RockFire. It started with approximately two acres in grass, north-west of Paso Robles.

By 5 p.m., multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene: 10 engines, four crews, two bulldozers, four air tankers, and a helicopter. The fire’s spread had slowed, but covered still approximately 25 acres.

By 9 p.m. the RockFire was 35-percent contained at about 39 acres. Crews continued to work through the night.

A second fire erupted Saturday. Cal Fire sent engines to the scene of a new vegetation fire at 250 Mustang Springs Road, outside of Paso Robles. Approx 30 acres in the grass.

By 6 p.m. actual acreage burned spread to 27 acres and was 50-percent contained. Crews continued to work on hot spots and containment.

By 9 p.m. the Mustang Fire was 80-percent contained.
