Atascadero Citizen of the year is Albert Almodova
–Atascadero Citizen of the year Albert Almodova has made a tremendous impact and has made a difference in this community. He’s earned the nickname “Mr. Atascadero” by his friends and fellow service organization members because of his dedication and involvement in so many functions and projects in the community. His smile, energy, and willingness to serve are seen throughout the community year round. You will see him heading up the parade at Colony Days, manning a table at Relay For Life alongside his daughter, helping at the summer Tuesdays in the Park BBQ’s with the Elk’s, getting a group together and gathering donations for the Long Walk Home or BBQing at the Atascadero High School football games and cooking pancake breakfasts for the students at our Atascadero elementary schools and High School. Nothing brings him more joy than seeing the smile on the kid’s faces when they come through the line for their pancakes. We have even see him in a Tahitian outfit dancing to raise money for “Dancing With Our Stars” supporting the Atascadero Library, cooking pulled pork and serving at the annual Car Show and bopping up and down El Camino on Cruise Night having a good time with his community and supporting whatever functions this city puts on.
He has served and given back to the community of Atascadero for many years through his involvement and positions with the Kiwanis Organization, where he was honored as Atascadero Kiwanian of the Year for 2017. For the past 9 years he has been mentoring the Key Club students at the Atascadero High School taking them under his wing and helping our youth become leaders and to show them what it means to give service and help others. He put into motion and created the Snow Slide at the annual Winter Wonderland, with the help of his fellow Kiwanians this is an attraction that is anxiously anticipated and enjoyed year after year by thousands of children.
Anytime there is a service project or event in this community you will see him there with his “I can do it attitude”. Throughout the city of Atascadero you will see many contributions and assets to the community that he has been a part of including the Veteran’s Memorial and Band Stand at the Atascadero Lake Park and the Bocce Ball and bench at Colony Park. At his place of work (Napa Auto Parts for 19 years) he goes the extra mile to help his customers. He loves the Atascadero community and the people that make up this community. He puts a lot of energy into the community and does so with a smile and a great sense of humor. His energy, service and commitment to this community make him Atascadero Citizen of the Year.
