Atascadero Mayor Tom O’Malley and other city officials celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Colony Park Community Center last night. Four council members, city staff and some of the people who helped make the recreation building were on hand for the anniversary.
Mayor Tom O’Malley talked about the history of the facility. Former Councilman Jerry Clay talked about his long-term ambition to build a community recreation center in his hometown. Recreation Supervisor Jennifer Fanning has managed Colony Park since it opened ten years ago. She talked about all the programs over the years. To commemorate the anniversary, they’re selling personalized bricks at a 10% discount. The large bricks sell for $600; the smaller ones go for $150- before the 10% discount.
During the brief ceremony basketball, yoga and martial arts classes continued at the Colony Park Community Center, as if it were just another day for the young and old who enjoy the recreation opportunities there.
