Crimson Newsmagazine places twice at national convention
Crimson Newsmagazine placed 9th in Tabloid Newspaper and 10th in Large-School website, which is the program’s third double win at the NSPA convention.
—Paso Robles High School’s Crimson Newsmagazine has earned its third ever double win at the Fall 2017 NSPA National High School Journalism Convention in Dallas with 9th Place Best of Show Tabloid Newspaper and 10th Place Best of Show Large-School Website.

Twenty-two journalism students and teacher Jeff Mount attended the Dallas event Nov. 16-19, 2017, which offers competitions, learning sessions, and trade exposure for the
top high school programs in the nation. Over 5000 students attended from more than 500 high schools across 44 states. Crimson’s results are remarkable for such a young staff: 60 percent of the staff are 10th graders in their first year of Crimson production.
Crimson has placed 15 times in print and online National Best of Shows since 2009. Over 50 students have won individual awards, and the program has earned six consecutive NSPA All American rankings.

PRHS seniors Valeria Cisneros, Mason Seden-Hansen, and Kathryn Varian serve as editor-in-chief and managing editors, respectively.
Teachers Jeff Mount and John Rucker advise Crimson journalism across online, print, and video platforms in a 90-student multiple class convergence program aligned with Careers in Technical Education.
