Vehicle sparks another vegetation fire on the Cuesta Grade

–Another vehicle sparked a vegetation fire on the Cuesta Grade this weekend, according to Cal Fire. The fire sparked around 7:55 a.m. Saturday morning along the northbound side of the grade. The car was a 2006 Kia Spectra that caught fire while driving and pulled over to the side of the road, igniting the nearby vegetation on the mountainside.
A vehicle fire has reportedly sparked another vegetation fire on the Cuesta Grade, according to the California Highway Patrol.
By 9:20 a.m., the Grade Fire was estimated to have burned about 15 acres and forward progress had been stopped, according to Cal Fire.
SLO City Fire, the U.S. Forest Service and at least one air tanker assisted.
Traffic was backed up in the area for several hours. The second and third northbound lanes were closed until approximately 11:45 a.m.
