‘Tip a Cop’ dinner raises money for Special Olympics

The Event Center decked out for the annual Tip-a-Cop Dinner.
–Hundreds of North County residents enjoyed dinner served by local law enforcement officers at the Paso Robles Event Center Tuesday night. Sheriff Ian Parkinson and his wife, Amy; Paso Robles Police Chief Robert Burton and his wife, Stacia; Atascadero Police Chief Jerrel Healy, Paso Robles Police Lt. Ty Lewis and many officers served dinner to raise money for Special Olympics.
Jody Watty of Special Olympics said 600 people ate dinner at either 5:30 or 7:00 at the Event Center Tuesday night. This week San Luis Obispo, Arroyo Grande, and Cambria are also holding Tip-a-Cop Dinners. Jody said the dinners raise over $100,000 dollars for uniforms, transportation, and logistics for local Special Olympic athletes.
She said sponsors like Food-4-Less provide thousands of dollars in food to make the fundraiser a success.
