Street Side Ale House for good food, good beer and good friends
A local destination for rare whiskey tasting
–The Street Side Ale House in Atascadero is the vision of four friends who fulfilled their dream of creating the type of place they would want to go to. A great food menu, over 25 beers on tap, local wines on tap, over 100 whiskeys and large screen televisions that can be seen from any seat in the establishment are a few of the things making Street Side a popular destination.
The pub style menu features appetizers, hot sandwiches, salads and house specialties. The drink menu includes an extensive list of original craft cocktails, beer cocktails and liquor flights and beer flights. One of the owners, Trevor LaSalle said, “One of the specialty cocktails our patrons favor is the Raspberry Lemon Drop. Enjoy it with the Lemon Caper Salmon Filet.”
Other menu items that head up the list for popularity include the Cubano sandwich, Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Peppers and the Picante Raspberry Burger. The burger has a taste of raspberry jam added to the black angus ground chuck, goat cheese, arugula, bacon and jalapeno. LaSalle said the Picante Raspberry Burger pairs well with the Floradora mule, a fine mixture of Hendrick’s gin, raspberry syrup, fresh lime juice and Goslings ginger beer served in a copper mug.
Street Side Ale House features a different rare whiskey every month. “We offer some of the most difficult to find whiskeys each month,” said LaSalle. “Over half of them can’t just be picked up in a store. We have regular customers who are excited each month to try the featured rare whiskey at a discount.”
Over the next few months, the featured rare whiskeys are April: Johnnie Walker Blue Label; May: Van Winkle Special Reserve 12-Year bourbon; June: Gifted Horse and July: Twelve-year WL Weller. The complete list of rare whiskeys featured by Street Side is available on the website: www.streetsidealehouse.com
The owners, LaSalle, Eric Peterson, Chris Durkin and Taylor Rees have been friends since first working together at a local eatery about 15 years ago. Just about a year ago, the friends started work on their dream, converting two buildings into a rustic and inviting interior all constructed from local reclaimed materials. Along with the fine drinks and food, all the major sport packages are available on 11 HD flat screen televisions so there is no bad seat in the house.
“We really want to thank the community for the continued support of our restaurant,” said LaSalle.
