Colony Days returns to Atascadero
Annual event celebrates 43rd year
–Colony Days returns this weekend in Atascadero. The annual parade and day of festivities will be held Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sunken Gardens 6500 La Palma Ave.
The annual celebration includes a parade that begins at 10 a.m., that will be 1/3 longer than last year’s parade route, a festival with food, drink and games in the Sunken Gardens, Colony Band Festival at Atascadero High School, Tent City recreation of 1916 Atascadero Colony Life, a downtown shopping fair, as well as the Dogtoberfest Weinerdog races.
The Colony Days parade will run through Atascadero, on El Camino Real, from Pueblo Ave. to Traffic Way — 1.1 miles — beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The parade is free, as always, and the public is invited to join with an entry of their own. The 2016 theme, “Celebrate Atascadero — Past, Present, Future” is a great way to get creative.
