Gas company performing maintenance work in Atascadero
Residents may smell gas or hear nose from multiple locations
–Southern California Gas Company will be performing maintenance work on a natural gas transmission line in a number of locations in the City of Atascadero through Friday, July 29. Work may begin as early as 7 a.m. and last more than 48 hours.
In order to complete this work, it will be necessary to remove the natural gas from the pipeline. This will be done by releasing the gas to the atmosphere near the following locations:
1. A-Town Diner at 7305 El Camino Real
2. Intersection of Curbaril & El Camino Real
3. 14505 El Camino Real
4. The Intersection of San Rafael & El Camino Real
5. Santa Margarita Road & El Camino Real
6. 9225-9235 North Forty Road
7. In the open field near 9130 Harvest Way, located in the County of SLO
This work may begin as early as 7 a.m. and could last more than 48 hours, but will end before close of business on Friday, July 29. The release of natural gas will last for approximately 24 hours. During this time, residents may smell a certain amount of gas odor and hear some noise coming from the project location – this is normal and expected. All emergency agencies have been notified of the planned release of natural gas to the atmosphere.
Southern California Gas apologizes in advance for the disruption. They will do their best to work quietly at the job site but want the public to realize there will be equipment noise, human noise and a muffled noise as natural gas leaves the pipeline.
