Teen arrested for DUI after attempting to flee collision site
–Tristan Anthony Riva, a 19-year-old from Atascadero, was arrested on May 2 for DUI, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Riva was seen driving a Jeep in Atascadero at 1:20 a.m. Monday. A few minutes later, the same witness came across the Jeep just after it had collided with a power pole guide wire and a block retaining wall, according to CHP. The witness reportedly watched as the driver backed his vehicle out of the crash scene and drove away. Officers arrived on scene a few minutes later and were directed to where the Jeep was driven to.
Officers found the Jeep, and it was unoccupied. After completing their investigation at the scene, officers located the driver at a residence in Atascadero. CHP Officers observed signs and symptoms of intoxication, and conducted a DUI investigation. At the conclusion of their investigation, Officers arrested Riva for DUI, DUI with a BAC of .08-percent or higher, and leaving the scene of a traffic collision.
This collision and arrest is currently under investigation.
