Drug deal turns violent, shots fired, police say
Witnesses say 4-5 males became involved in a physical street fight on Sunday night
–On Sunday at approximately 10:10 p.m., officers from the Paso Robles Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of Nicklaus Street on a report of gunshots being fired. Arriving officers located four expended shell casings in the roadway, along with numerous Xanax tablets, according to police.
Witnesses reported that four-to-five males became involved in a physical fight in the street. During this fight an unknown subject began firing a handgun and all the subjects fled the area in two different vehicles.
A witness was able to take a photograph of one of the vehicles leaving the area. The vehicle is a silver 2000-2004 Toyota Tacoma truck with a silver camper shell and black matte rims and tinted windows. The second vehicle seen leaving the area was described as a white sedan.
Based on the evidence located at the scene, it appears this incident was the result of a narcotics transaction, police say. All area hospitals were contacted and there were no reported gunshot victims treated after this incident.
