Elementary school celebrates leap year birthday of playground attendant

Opehlia Beason turned ’21 years old,’ on Feb. 29
–San Gabriel Elementary School celebrated a special birthday on leap day, Feb. 29. Ophelia Beason turned 84 years old, although the students joke she is only 21 since her birthday only comes around once every four years.

Beason has been supervising students on the playground as a yard duty for 11 years at San Gabriel. She comes to school rain or shine and says she delights in seeing the students every day.
