City seeking bands for summer concerts in the park

Applications are due by Feb. 12City of atascadero

–The City of Atascadero is now accepting band applications for the summer 2016 concert series. Applications are available at the Colony Park Community Center, located at 5599 Traffic Way in Atascadero, and on the city’s website at www.atascadero.org. An application can also be received by contacting Jennifer Fanning by phone at (805) 470-3426 or by email at jfanning@atascadero.org. All applications must be returned by no later than Friday, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted.

The 2016 Saturday in the Park Summer Concert Series will be held nearly every Saturday evening throughout the summer, beginning on June 18th with an Evening of Jazz and ending on August 13th, 2016. All concerts are held at the Atascadero Lake Park Bandstand from 6:30-8:30 pm and are free for the entire community to attend.

This year the city will be adding a new event to the summer lineup: “Dancing in the Streets” will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 5-9 p.m. in the Sunken Gardens and downtown area of Atascadero. This event will extend “Hot El Camino Cruise Nite” that kicks off on Friday, Aug. 19.

Each year, the series is promoted through many avenues of media including radio, web, and print materials. Each band selected for the series is paid a one-time stipend of $250 on the evening of their respective concert. The City of Atascadero will provide an audio technician for each concert; personal audio equipment is not allowed.

Sponsorships will be needed for the series and the city will once again be seeking donations.
