–Cassidy Montelee Cuellar, 29, of Shandon, and Alyssa Ralyn Nunes, 21, of Bakersfield, were arrested Thursday night after an altercation with San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Deputies in Shandon.

On Thursday, at approximately 7:50 p.m., deputies were called to a home in the 200 block of N. 3rd St. in Shandon for man who was reportedly threatening to assault his neighbor. A couple inside the home said the man was on their lawn issuing threats and one point threatened to have his dog attack them. When deputies arrived, the suspect had left that location. Based on eyewitness accounts, the man was identified as Cassidy Montelee Cuellar of Shandon.

Deputies located Cuellar at his residence in the 300 block of N. 2nd Street in Shandon. Deputies attempted to contact Cuellar but say they were met by a large aggressive dog behind a locked gate. The man came out of the house and was immediately confrontational by cursing and threatening to kill the deputies. At one point he reportedly retrieved his pit bull and threatened to have his dog attack deputies. Cuellar then jumped on top of his fence continuing to threaten deputies.

Deputies were able to get him down from the fence, but Cuellar resisted by striking, kicking and biting. As Cuellar continued to physically resist, deputies activated a taser to subdue him. Even after handcuffs were applied, Cuellar continued to make verbal threats.

During the struggle, Cuellar’s girlfriend, Alyssa Ralyn Nunes reportedly attempted to interfere by yelling, screaming and trying to restrain the deputies. The suspect and two deputies were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

Cuellar was booked into County Jail on charges of felony resisting arrest and battery on a peace officer. Nunes was booked for obstructing an officer and being drunk in public.
