Pedestrian hit by car on Highway 101 

–Karen Groves, 56, of Atascadero, was struck by a car Sunday as she was attempting to illegally cross Highway 101 near the Vineyard Drive exit in Templeton, according to reports. Emergency personnel transported Groves to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center with major injuries. She is expected to survive.

The car was driven by an 18-year-old who was traveling at 65 to 70 miles per hour in a 2003 Toyota Corolla. The teen spotted Groves, but was unable to avoid hitting her. The teen, who was not injured in the collision, did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and no charges were filed.
