Community fundraising continues for Lindsey family
Templeton Eagles’ player continues to recover in SLO
–Friends of Isaac Lindsey continue to raise funds and send messages of love and hope for Lindsey’s family. Lindsey sustained what is believed to be a traumatic brain injury during the fourth quarter of the Templeton High vs. San Luis Obispo High School football game on Friday, Sept. 18. He was been in a medically-induced coma at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in SLO, his parents, Michael and Jenny Lindsey, said, but has since been moved to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose.
In the last months, Team Isaac, a group of friends, have raised more than $100,000 on GoFundMe and more with other fundraisers that have been held since that night.
“Thank you again to the hundreds of people who have started fundraisers and participated in bringing the community together and for the outpouring of love,” Lindsey’s parents said in a statement released in September. “We do appreciate everyone’s understanding in respecting our family’s privacy at this critical time in Isaac’s journey.”
Lindsey’s head injury is not all that uncommon in high school football. According to Headcase Company, 47-percent of all sports concussions occur during high school football.
The next fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Home Sweet Home Cottage & Ranch, 282 Templeton Cemetery Road in Templeton. The $25 entry to the benefit auction includes live and silent auctions, live music by Soundhouse, food and drinks. Wine and beer will able available for purchase. Children 6 to 13 are $10 and children 5 and under are free. For more information email [email protected].
