Zoo Boo event is this Saturday
–A “spooktackular” evening awaits guests of the Charles Paddock Zoo from 5-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24. Attendees are invited to put on their best costume and bring the entire family out to a not-too-scary, fun-filled night for all ages at Zoo Boo.
The Vegetable Decorating Contest is returning this year to Zoo Boo. Bring a completed creative vegetable creation to Zoo Boo before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Contestants can creatively carve, decorate and combine any veggies or fruit to create a special Halloween character or animal. There are up to six judging categories starting with ages 6 and under, ages 7-12, ages 13-19, Family, Adults (20 & Over) and Business/ Commercial. Mayor Tom O’Malley and the Atascadero City Council members will be judging all of the creative veggies entries at 8 p.m. Purchase contest veggies at Nature’s Touch Harvest and Nursery in Templeton, and receive a 5-percent discount just by mentioning Zoo Boo! Carving materials will not be available at the zoo; a fully completed, creative, cute or possibly creepy veggie entry must be brought from home.
Regular admission is $10 per person; Zoo Members receive a discount and children age 2 and under are free.
