Colony Days Committee announces 2015 parade lineup
This year’s celebration includes annual Dogtoberfest
–The parade lineup for the 42nd annual Colony Days parade in Atascadero was released Tuesday. The annual parade has 62 entries, which is down a bit from past years. Parade participants should check-in between 8 and 9 a.m. on the corner of Olmeda Avenue and West Mall in Atascadero. The parade begins at 10 a.m. this Saturday with the same route starting and ending by the Atascadero City Administration Building.
Colony Days Committee Publicity Chair Nicholas Mattson said that despite incorrect information being passed around, same-day parade registration will not be allowed. He said that parade registration closed on Oct. 9 in order to allow time to prepare the parade script and lineup. The theme for the parade is “Volunteers on Parade.”
For the first time, the annual Dogtoberfest will be held in conjunction with Colony Days. The event will be held in Sunken Gardens with registration starting at 10 a.m.
This year’s parade grand marshall is Barbie Butz and the king and queen are Bob and Wilma Sparling.
