Robbery suspects arrested at Motel 6 after police standoff
– A female and two males were arrested Tuesday at the Motel 6 in Atascadero after a standoff with Atascadero Police. The three were suspects involved in an investigation for armed robbery in Monterey County, according to Atascadero Detective Sargent Jason Carr.
Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies came down to Atascadero to the Motel 6 to arrest the three suspects that were being held in their motel room by Atascadero officers, who noticed that a car in the motel parking lot fit the description of the car of the wanted parties.
On Monday, at 7:17, Monterey County Deputies were dispatched to an armed robbery that occurred earlier in the evening. The victim reported a young female flagged him down in the city of Chualar while he was driving. When he stopped for her a male got into the passenger front seat of his car, pointed a gun at him and robbed him of his wallet, cell phone and other personal items from his car. The female entered the back seat and stole items from that area. The suspects then walked away, according to a press release. The investigation tracked the suspects to the Motel 6 where they were arrested for the above listed crimes.
The suspects were contacted by Atascadero officers and asked to leave their hotel room via the phone in their room, their cell phones, and also by a PA system. Officers were positioned around the room, barricading escape routes, and nearby hotel rooms were evacuated. Eventually, the three suspects did exit the room right in time for Monterey Sheriffs to arrive and take them into custody.
For a brief time, Santa Rosa exit was closed off to traffic. Roads are now open and clear, and the parties have been arrested and are being brought back up to Monterey County.
