Paso Robles man dies in ATV accident 

– On Monday at approximately 9:30 a.m., 69-year-old William Schaffer of Paso Robles died in a solo ATV accident, California Highway Patrol reports. Schaffer was riding his Kubota utility vehicle on his property in rural Westside Paso Robles off of Peachy Canyon Rd., and for an unknown reason, made a turning motion that caused him to roll down a hillside, according to a CHP report.

Schaffer proceeded to roll an unknown number of times down the hill and was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Schaffer was not wearing his seatbelt, according to the report. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the incident.
