Adoptable pets of the week: Shawnee and Addie
– This week’s edition of North County Adoptable Pets of the Week features blue eyed Siamese cat Shawnee and McNabb mix Addie.
The featured cat this week is Shawnee from the North County Humane Society, a no-kill cat shelter and adoption center in Atascadero.
Shawnee came to the North County Humane Society this spring. Whether she wandered in or was “dropped off,” is unknown. She was pregnant, and found a safe hiding spot in an old kennel under bushes next to our offices. She raised three kittens that were almost four-weeks-old when the NCHS staff found her and the babies.
Two of the kittens survived, and both have been adopted. Now it is time to find a home for mama Shawnee.
She is a slender, blue-eyed, one-year-old seal point Siamese with white “shoes.” She’s friendly and affectionate with people and gets along well with other cats. She has been spayed, vaccinated, checked over by a vet, and microchipped. She is ready to leave NCHS and “adopt” a family of her own.
Available cats and kittens can be seen on the website at www.slonchs.org. Potential pet parents are also encouraged to stop by and visit with the cats to find the right one for their family.
The North County Humane Society is located just off of Highway 101 by the Del Rio Road exit at 2300 Ramona Rd. in Atascadero. They are open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Complete information is listed on the website, or call NCHS at (805) 466-5403, and ask for the “Crazy Cat Lady.”
The featured dog of the week is Addie from Second Chance at Love, a dog rescue and sanctuary in Templeton that takes in abandoned, neglected, abused or abandoned dogs.
Addie is a five-year-old female McNabb mix weighing approximately 45lbs. She is good with some dogs and is housebroken. This adorable girl was found running loose without a collar or microchip and was happy to be rescued by Second Chance almost three years ago. She is a good candidate for agility training or someone that likes to exercise. She is a higher energy dog that is eager to go on adventures.
For information about adopting Addie, visit the website or call (805) 434-3982.
