Cuesta Fire delays resurfacing of Hwy. 101
– Caltrans reports that an ongoing project to resurface U.S. Highway 101 in both directions from Reservoir Canyon Road to north of Cuesta Peak has been suspended due to the Cuesta Fire. Construction is expected to resume Sunday, Aug. 30, depending on the status of the fire, the need to ensure public safety and to maintain access for emergency responders.
When roadwork resumes, there will be lane closures on northbound US Highway 101 Sunday night through Friday morning from 8 p.m. until 9 a.m. and southbound from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. One lane will remain open to traffic in both directions along the two-lane segment of the highway while two lanes will remain open along the three-lane segment of the highway.
Daytime lane closures on northbound US Highway 101 will occur from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and southbound from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. with no roadwork Fridays from 6 a.m. until Sundays at 8 p.m.
The contractor for this $3.1-million project is Telfer Highway Technologies of McClellan, Calif. This project is expected to be completed next month.
