– On Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 1:30 p.m., Retired Ranger I Battalion Chief Hud Banks will be honored with a resolution by the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors. The honor will come at the board’s regularly scheduled meeting in the board chambers at 1050 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo.

In the summer of 1941, 15-year old firefighter Hud Banks rescued a young girl from the Paso Robles public plunge, a public swimming pool. At the time, he did not receive any recognition. Kathryn Reed, the girl he saved, now lives in Arizona. She will be attending Tuesday’s ceremony.

Chief Lewin commented, “Chief Banks was a legendary firefighter for CDF. This will be a chance to honor him.” Please join us at the Board of Supervisors chambers for this special occasion.

The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will follow the ceremony.
