Local singer hits number 37 on Country Music Charts
Callie Twisselman has two hits make top 40
– North County resident, Callie Twisselman released her newest Extended Play, “Party Lights” in February and her single “Breathe” has hit #37 on the Music Row Country Breakout Chart.
Twisselman said, “Breaking the top 40 and being #37 always seemed so far away. Now being up there with major label artists and having my music get that kind of recognition is amazing.”
She said that she believes, “dreams really are within your reach. I’m so exited to see what the future holds.”
The “Party Lights” EP is complied of five songs, “Party Lights,” “FireBall,” “Still in Love with you,” “Daydream,” and “Breathe,” all of which Twisselman wrote, one of which she co-wrote. She states that, “’Breathe’ is a song about coming out of a tough situation and finding yourself again; it is an empowering song.”
The 7th generation San Luis Obispo County native has grown up on her family’s ranch and has had the love of music from a young age. “I remember both of my parents listened to a lot of country music and my mom, Junis sang in a country band,” she said. Listening to that music captivated young Twisselman, and left her wanting more.
“I just always loved to sing, I started singing the National Anthems at places and I thought ‘this is something I want to do for a living.’”
Twisselman released her debut EP “On My Way,” to national country radio in March 2013 and received a very positive response. Her first radio single, “Back Then,” broke onto the Music Row Country Breakout chart and into the top 80 songs in all of country music. Her single “Looking at you,” charted on the Music Row Breakout charts at #64.
Twisselman will be playing at Barrelhouse Brewing on September 4 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
