Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Blue Oyster Cult and more coming to fair

– The California Mid-State Fair announced today that Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has been confirmed to perform two shows, on Saturday, August 1, at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on the Frontier Stage. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s performances will be free with paid admission to the fair.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
2015 marks the 23rd anniversary of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s arrival onto the music scene. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy appeared in front of millions during the halftime show of the 1999 Super Bowl, and the band has sold millions of albums.
Turnpike Troubadours
Over the course of the past five years, vocalist Evan Felker, bassist RC Edwards, fiddle player Kyle Nix, guitarist Ryan Engleman and drummer Gabe Pearson, have created tunes that have evolved from their original acoustic music to a recent country blend tinged with punk rock. The band is best known for their “Goodbye Normal Street” album and hits “Blue Star” and “Gin, Smoke and Lies.” They will be releasing a new album entitled “The Turnpike Troubadours” on September 18.
Crowder
Formerly the front man of the David Crowder Band, David Crowder will take the stage to perform with his new collective Crowder. Named among the “most thoughtful, progressive and exciting acts in contemporary Christian music” by The New York Times, Crowder and his former band released Give Us Rest in 2013. The album gave the band the highest debut of their career selling over 50,000 units in one week, landing them in the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Top 200. The band’s music video for “SMS (Shine)” nabbed coverage on NBC’s The Today Show, Fox & Friends, USA Today, Billboard and Paste Magazine online as well as a GMA Dove Award win for “Short Form Video of the Year.”
Taylor Hicks
Hicks was the winner of Season 5 of American Idol. His music is a unique take on Southern soul, R & B, country and blues. Most recently, Hicks has been performing on Broadway (in Grease as ‘Teen Angel’) and multiple stints in Las Vegas at Bally’s, Paris and Caesars Palace.
A Flock of Seagulls
As well-known for their bizarrely teased haircuts as their hit single “I Ran (So Far Away),” A Flock of Seagulls were one of the MTV video rotation staples of the new wave era in the 1980’s.
Yolanda Del Rio
At the age of 15 she recorded her first hit, “La hija de Nadie” (No One’s Daughter). After six months after its release it had surpassed one million copies sold. She is best known for “Llora Llorar Llorar,” “Tus Maletas en la Puerta,” “El Dia que me acaricies llorare,” and “Camas Separadas.” She has also starred in 11 films and has toured in North, Central and South America, as well as Europe.
Blue Oyster Cult
For over four decades, Blue Oyster Cult has been delivering albums loaded with classic songs. The band was listed in VH1’s countdown of the greatest hard rock bands of all time. Hits include “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” “Godzilla,” and “Burnin’ for You.”
Proyecto
Founded in 2012, Proyecto X is a Norteño group best distinguished by the sound of tuba. Proyecto X has created songs dedicated to a diverse public that enjoys corridos, cumbias, ballads, and romantic melodies.
