Summer youth basketball league announces new dates
Atascadero’s Summer Youth Basketball League has new dates for the season. The Skills/Clinic days are now Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, June 15 to 17 from 5-7 p.m. The practices will be held June 22 to July 2, and the games will be scheduled between July 6 and the 30. Registration has been extended and will end on Friday, June 12.
Registration for this league costs $71.50 per child, which includes a league t-shirt and a participation award. Registration is being taken now at the Colony Park Community Center, located at 5599 Traffic Way in Atascadero. Space is limited.
Co-ed summer basketball league for grades one through eight will be held in a non-competitive setting and for any skill level. The program stresses the importance of individual skill development, teamwork, positive attitudes and most of all fun.
The optional skills and clinic will include many different basketball and conditioning drills, and is included in the basketball registration fee. Skills/clinic week is not mandatory, but maximum participation is encouraged as it will be an opportunity to work and learn from experienced players and coaches.
After teams and volunteer coaches are assigned, practices will run for two weeks in the evenings. Games will be held Monday through Thursday evenings with each team having two games per week.
