8-year-old North County girl dies in ATV accident
– On Thursday evening at approximately 7 p.m., Joshua Lee Weaver of Paso Robles was driving his 2014 Polaris Razor ATV southbound on Heritage Loop Road north of Heritage Road within the private community of Heritage Ranch at an unknown speed.
Weaver and an eight-year-old female passenger were both seated in the driver seat without restraints in place when Weaver lost control of the Polaris, California Highway Patrol reports.
The Polaris rolled onto its left side ejecting Weaver and the juvenile passenger. The Polaris was found on top of the driver who was on top of the juvenile passenger, according to CHP.
The juvenile passenger was transported to Twin Cities Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 9 p.m. Weaver sustained abrasions to his head, left hand and both legs.
CHP reports that alcohol was not suspected to be a factor in the incident.
