77-year-old woman struck and killed by vehicle in Morro Bay 

Driver remained on the scene, cooperated with investigation, police say

– A 77-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Beach Street and Market Avenue in Morro Bay on Thursday, according to police. Morro Bay Police officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:07 p.m., where they found the woman unconscious in the roadway. Witnesses identified her as the pedestrian involved in the crash.

The driver, a licensed 53-year-old man, and San Luis Obispo County resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Morro Bay Fire Department paramedics attempted to provide medical aid, but the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Coroner’s Office has taken custody of her body.

Police reported that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
