Events planned for June at the Atascadero Library

Children’s programs

 

Summer Reading Program
The Children’s Summer Reading Program will be from June 1 -July 28. The theme this summer is “Libraries Rock.” Children ages 0-18 can earn prizes for reading. For more information, please call 461-6163.

Preschool storytime
Preschool storytimes are scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:30. They will share stories and songs.

Toddler storytime
Join the library for a storytime specifically designed for your toddler every Friday morning at 10:30. They will share stories, rhymes, music, and fingerplays.

Family movie
Saturday, June 2, at 2 p.m. See library website for details. All ages.

Craft Club
Come make a fun project! June 6, at 3:30 p.m. Registration required.

Teen Potted garden rock creatures
Ages 10- 17, registration required, June 16 at 11 a.m.

Paws to read to Daisy
Thursday, May 3 and Thursday, June 21 at 3:30 p.m. Practice reading anything to Daisy the dog and she will listen.

Lego Club
Join the club Saturday, June 16 at 2 p.m. for some Lego building fun! Registration required. Ages 5-12.

Coventry and Kaluza Circus Show
June 21 at 11 a.m. all ages circus fun.

Xtreme Science
June 28 at 11 a.m. exciting science show.

Teen mini Zen rock gardens
June 30 at 11 a.m., registration required. Ages 10-17

Adult Programs

Adult Summer Reading Program
The Adult Summer Reading Program will be from June 1 -July 28. The theme this summer is “Libraries Rock.” Read and complete a bingo sheet and receive prizes and surprises. For more information, please call the Atascadero Library at (805) 461-6162.

Art Display – “It’s All Happening at the Zoo”
Selected art will be on display on the theme “It’s All Happening at the Zoo” during June. An art reception will be on Thursday, June 7 at 5:30 p.m. to meet the artists.

Earthquake Forecasting & Early Warning Systems
June 14 at 6 p.m. Join Cal Poly Professor John J. Jasbinsek as he talks about the history and progress of science developing forecasting and early warning systems for seismic activity. Part of Libraries Rock.

Rock Show (Geology)
June 23 at 10:30 – 12:30 p.m.The Atascadero Library is pleased to present local rock collector Ernie Perlich who will show fascinating rocks he has collected over the years. Part of Libraries Rock!

Book Discussion Groups
The two library book groups are Gems in the Stacks which meets the 1st Tuesday (June 5) of the month at 11 a.m. and Mixed Minds Book Group which meets the 3rd Thursday (June 21) of the month at 2:30 p.m. Gems in the Stacks will discuss The Address by Fiona Davis. Mixed Minds Book Group will discuss Thirteen Moons by Charles Frazier.

How to Download Workshop
June 21 at 5:30-6:30 p.m. Learn how to download free library electronic resources such as E-Books, audiobooks, video, music, and magazines all with your smartphone or tablet. Reservations requested. Go to http://slolibrary.evanced.info/signup/Calendar or call (805)461-6162.
