Police paso roblesTwo bodies found at Morro Bay residence, 4-year-old child found unharmed

Morro Bay Police is investigating what they say is an apparent murder/suicide after they found the bodies of a 36-year-old female and a 47-year-old male at a Morro Bay residence. Police also found a 4-year-old child in the residence, who is now under the care of family members.

A Morro Bay Police officer was on patrol in the 2400 block of Greenwood Avenue, when an open front door of a residence was noticed by the officer. The officer stopped at the residence in an attempt to contact the occupants to determine if everything was alright.

Initially, the officer was unable to get a response at the front door, so a supervisor was called to respond to the scene. Upon the supervisor’s arrival, the officers checked the exterior of the residence in an effort to locate a responsible party. After being unable to locate anyone and with no signs of a break in, the officers made the decision to secure the house and leave a note for the residents. While securing the door, the officer saw a person lying on the floor in the kitchen. Officers made entry into the home to check the welfare of the person and discovered two deceased bodies. Officers also located a 4-year old child who was unharmed in the residence. The child was initially cared for by Child Welfare Services and has subsequently been released to the custody of family members.

Investigators were contacted and responded to the scene and based upon a preliminary investigation, the deaths are believed to be a murder/suicide. Information obtained during the investigation revealed that the victim was a 36-year old female and the apparent suspect a 47-year old male. San Luis Obispo County Crime Scene Detectives assisted Morro Bay Police Detectives in the investigation. Greenwood Avenue, which was previously closed, is now open to normal traffic.

No further information is being released at this time pending notification of the families and the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morro Bay Police Department (805) 772-6225 or Crime Stoppers at (805) 549-7867.
